Super Volunteers!

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers from Italy: Elisa, Mauro, Lucia and Silvia who recently came to Malaika. They helped to re-paint our home and supported the daily activities at Malaika by painting and playing with the children and assisting the house mothers with the cooking. We miss their joy!

Happy Birthday Hellen

Hellen recently celebrated her 9th birthday with all her friends at Malaika. She and the children had a lovely day and enjoyed eating her special cake!

Growing up fast!

Our little babies Agnes and Febronia, pictured here with Jutta, Francesca and the nurse are growing up quickly and remain extremely healthy.

Happy Birthday Betty and Sarah!

We recently celebrated the birthdays of Betty and Sarah, Mama Francesca's daughter. All the children enjoyed a lovely party at Mama Francesca’s house where they played games, rode bicycles and some even went for a swim! Thank you to Mama Jutta for making such a delicious cake!

Visits to Malaika

Thank you Betty, Lara and all our friends from Maisha, Italy who came to visit us. We had so much playing games, singing and dancing with Lara. We are also very grateful for the love and support given to us by Betty. Please visit us again soon!

2 New Water Tanks at Malaika

Thanks to Mama Sue and the people of Australia, the rain water tanks have been purchased and placed in position. In the Western world we take water for granted without thinking about it as a precious resource and how lucky we are to have a reliable and clean supply. Many areas in Africa struggle to maintain healthy and stable sources of water .Water in rural areas in Tanzania is often carried by the women on their head for great distances. At Malaika, with so many children and now three babies, our everyday usage of water has increased. Much water is used every day in washing, cleaning, toilets, cooking and for drinking. Thanks to your generous support and donation, these rain water collection tanks totalling 30,000 litres, have taken us another step towards being self-sustainable. As Malaika is in a rural area, the cost of water is expensive.

Malaika welcomes 3 new babies!

In July we were happy to receive 3 new babies at Malaika. Joshua (left) born 2nd June , Agnes(middle) born 3rd May and Febronia (right) born 28th April. They are very healthy, much adored by their older sisters and brothers and gaining weight rapidly. We have employed a nurse who is looking after them. They are very good babies.

Completion of the Lufthansa-help alliance project

We have completed the report on the joint project: "Solar Power for Malaika"between the German Airline Lufthansa - help alliance and Malaika Childrens Home. The project enabled the Malaika childrens home to acquire and install additional solar panels, a solar powered refrigerator and lights and sockets for occasional electricity usage. The project has resulted in a big improvement for the Malaika children - we thank Lufthansa help alliance for their support!!

Get Well Soon Hellen & Abraham

Hellen recently had an operation for an umbilical hernia and is recovering well. We give our thanks to Mama Sue for her support and big contribution towards Hellen's medication. Pole sana Hellen and thank you to all the nurses and Dr Maria at Selian Hospital.

Abraham also received some medication thanks to Mama Sue and he is doing fine. Thank you again to our lovely Mama Sue.

Happy Birthday To You!

Happy birthday Mama Jutta! In May we had a birthday party for Mama Jutta with Paulo and Lisa. All children were very happy to sing and have fun together.

Communion Treats

Also we give a big thanks and congratulations to Chiara and Elia for their contribution of treats at the communion. Thank you Katia for your help in making this Card.

First Communion Celebration

The children were invited to a First Communion party in May by Mama Francesca and Baba Carlo. Their children Leonardo and Serena were amongst the children that made their first Communion. The children had a wonderful day playing with other children as well as having lunch, sodas and playing on the trampoline. They were all very well behaved.

The rains have arrived!

Malaika is looking very green after all the recent rain. There is plenty of grass for the cows and the shamba is flourishing. The rain was very welcome so that the vegetables could grow enabling Malaika to become self-sufficient. The maize will be picked in August. This season will ensure a very good crop.

Visit No. 4 from Mama Sue!

Mama Sue from Australia has come back to Malaika for her 4th visit. Earlier this month, she and Winnie visited Godbless at his school. Godbless is doing very well and is looking forward to visiting the children at Malaika in the near future.

Fun and Facepaints!

The children at Malaika were recently treated to a fun afternoon at the Blue Heron. They were throughouly entertained by the clown who painted their faces and showed them lots of balloon tricks! Thank you Mama Jutta!!

Malaika's Fantastic Volunteers

Domenica and Katia are our latest volunteers from Italy. We thank them both so much for generously giving up their time and for coming all the way to our home to help and play with us!

Doctors from CIVITANOVA recently visited Malaika and much to the children's delight they brought a TV for the centre....thank you to everyone at CIVITANOVA for your generous gift to us!

Fun and Suprises at Malaika

During Federica's visit, the children at Malaika were also delighted to receive lots of wonderful suprise gifts....Thank you Federica!!

Frederica visits and Godbless goes home...

Frederica has visited us again and together with Baba Martin she went to see Godbless who is now back with his family. Godbless is being supported by Malaika and we are so happy that he could rejoin his family. Godbless indeed.
